Architecture you would only see in NYC.

As you walk along the paths and streets of New York, never is there a dull moment with sky scrapers, historic buildings and innovative architecture on every street corner. I want to show some of my favourite retail buildings in New York to give you an insight into the amazing structures and exciting stores that are a MUST to visit.
Desigual's sea of colour...

Ralph Lauren (at christmas) shows his historic roots with this defined, significant building...

The apple store illustrates the minimalist, modern look inspired by many of the apple products...

Not only do the stores come in colour and historic structure but this Adidas store in Soho is small but stylish. The garage-door facade has reference to its heydays in the 60's and 80's...

The store for Holister is based around its beach-wear and surfer styles by incorporating a wave-screen into its windows...

Louis Vuitton uses its signature logo to decorate its building with colour and class...

Cinematic, authentic Anthropologie...

And finally I could not, not include Cartier at christmas with their exciting 'wrapping' of their store...

You think this is amazing, you wait untill you get inside the stores... (to be continued)

Forever 21.

 In store visual merchandising...

The Forver 21 innovative TV screen in the busy Times Square...

When visiting NYC I discovered the brand Forever 21, and since then the store has expanded to the UK in 2010. Forever 21 is a reasonably priced, trend-savvy brand that has many styles, creative clothing and accessories for everyone! The brand is split into a variety of stores that provide different styles and trends for different ages and sizes. For example, Heritage 1981 is an offshoot format store that carries their vintage inspired clothing, Love21 is the accessory store and Forever 21+ is clothing for women in extended sizes. I visited the Broadway store in New York, however more recently there has been a new and exciting Forever 21 store placed on the busy Times Square. The shop has incorporated innovative technology whilst situated in the bright lights of Times Square with an exciting TV screen capturing the public on the street, a mirror image of the street outside. The TV screen moves with the people and an ‘imaginary’ person pops out of the screen to ‘pretend’ to adopt one of the public.
I think the brand is exciting and fresh, it is similar to H&M with its low priced, fashionable, quality clothing. The brands main competitors in the UK is H&M, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Topshop etc but in the US its competitors vary from Gap inc, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Express and many more.

Memorabilia.

Just a few bits I kept from my trip to the BIG apple, including my Metro card, tickets for ice hockey and basketball matches at Madison Square Gardens and a few reciepts.

The Beginning

The view from the Empire state. INCREDIBLE.

Times Square, the square that never sleeps.

Empire State of Mind.

My first view of NYC.. a misty, enchanting skyline

My first and most exciting mode of transport from the airport to NYC, the yellow cab.

I visited New York two years ago, from the 25th January to the 29th January 2009. The trip was based around my school project; sport and competition in the USA. However after beginning my degree in Fashion Communication and Promotion, I plan to manage my blog on Fashion in NYC, ranging my information from retail merchandising, to innovative technology from the US fashion industry, to my experience of New York when I travelled there two years ago. Many images on the blog are sourced from research but some images are from my ‘big apple’ experience (as shown above). Enjoy!
